Hand-Tied Weft Hair Extensions

hand tied hair extension

If you have been trolling on the internet or social media this method of hair extensions is blowing up. So many stylists are specializing in this method and you would think it is the newest thing since the flat iron. But this method has been around for years and year. What has changed is the technique has shifted and gained popularity. So what is all the hype? Well this is an amazing way to get massive length and thickness with just a few rows of hair. You do not have to have rows and rows on your whole head of tape, beads or bonds. Read on to see some of the pros and cons to this method to see if this type of hair extension is calling your name.

Pros

  • Wearing your hair up! They are super easy to hide and the most flexible for a high pony and braid.

  • OMG the thickness and fullness in just one or 2 rows of wefts is the most intense of all methods.

  • What beads? Due to the wefts covering the beads you do not have to worry about anything when the wind blows.

  • More access to your head. Due to having one or 2 rows of hair you will find it easier to wash and style your hair.

  • Due to only applying one or 2 rows it is so easy for the hair stylist to move each section slightly up or down to give your natural hair time to rest between move ups. Other methods of full head applications do not offer as much flexibility.

  • Hand tied wefts are extremely light weight in the hair. If you have seen clip in extensions they are usually machine tied and much thicker. So this method is super light weight in the hair.

Cons

  • This is the method that requires the least amount of time between move ups at 6-8 weeks max.

  • While you get so much thickness in one or 2 rows the amount of hair will be thicker than all methods. Still not noticeable to anyone else. But you will feel them more when sleeping or feeling the back of your head.

Hand tied weft extensions are installed by sewing each weft onto a track of silicone beads attached to your hair. If you are looking to add volume only you will need just one package of hair. And could possibly use 1 package for a few applications give you up to a years worth of hair. If you need length and volume you will need 1 to 2 packages depending on your density and the thickness needed. Hand tied wefts are reusable up to 3 times and last up to 6 months with proper home care.

The installation is 90 minutes to 2 hours and lengths available are 18” and 22” and wefts are sold individually and color matched to your hair.
