Is your hair feeling the love?
Self care if often a big thing we talk about. Loving ourselves and taking care of our body and soul is so important. We have a self care for so many aspects of our lives. Working out, a facial schedule, massage, internal with supplements and healthy diet, alone time and family time. But on this love month are you forgetting all the ways you can love your hair?
So how do we love our hair? Here are the top of my list of scalp and hair attention you can give your hair.
1. Moisturizing treatments
For frequent washers and heat styling a deep moisturizing treatment is key for healthy and strong hair. Kevin.Murphy’s Hydrate.Me.Masque every 3rd shampoo will keep your hair in fabulous condition. If you have fragile or hair that is easily split than Zenagen’s Evolve conditioner is my go to. This can be used every time or as a treatment to give intense repair and strength.
2. Scalp treatments
Just like we exfoliate our face and body we need to remember our scalp & hair as well. Product and oil buildup on the hair and scalp can leave even the most beautiful colored hair dull and lifeless. So before complaining about your lackluster hair...have you given it the attention it deserves?
The other part of having a ritual of clarifying and exfoliating our scalp is to ensure our pores are free of any buildup. Why does that matter? Well my friend a dirty pore can not grow a beautiful and strong hair strand. Over time that little clogged pore will strangle out the hair and it will stop growing. When we are young and have loads of hair that is not even a thought. But as you get older and your hair is thinner each and every hair counts. So lets keep that scalp and hair clean. Kevin.Murphy’s Maxi.Wash is a great detoxifying clarifying shampoo that will remove buildup from the scalp and hair. And the Scalp.Spa duo is your deep exfoliating experience to do bi-monthly.
3. Daily serum
Do you wonder why the ends of your hair are the fastest to break? They are the oldest part of our hair and have seen the most action. The ends of our hair are brushed, curled, caught up in the brush and generally toss around every day. So what is one product that is a MUST? (especially for my extension and long hair clients). A serum... which will hydrate and seal your ends. Once a day is good and to ensure you don’t forget add it to your night time routine. After your face cleansing & hydrating routine do the following:
Short hair - a tiny amount (less than a peppercorn)
Medium hair - 2 pea sized
Long hair - a dime size
My favorite is Kevin.Murphy’s Young.Again. Apply starting at the ends, work into the middle of the hair and then all over. Then using a high quality brush to work it in. Then for medium and long hair put your hair up in a satin scrunchie or braid for sleeping.
5. Daily Brushing
Did you think that daily brushing is a thing of the past or just for long hair? Think again. Not only is brushing good for detangling hair. But it is also important for scalp health. Using a good quality boards head brush to stimulate your scalp and increase blood flow will help with hair growth. If you have dry scalp it will help to remove some of the flakes making this a perfect thing to do before washing your hair. And finally brushing will also help to move the oils from the scalp to the rest of the hair.
Take these 5 hair care tips to ensure your hair feels the love. And your will see the difference in your hair and your thanks will be healthy strong hair and a scalp that is clean and optimal for hair growth.
